Engineers Ireland delivers future-proofing report
Engineers Ireland have launched a report indicating the way forward for our infrastructure in the next 20 years.
By 2030, we will have a population of eight million on the island of Ireland, with half of these living in Dublin and Belfast
Don Moore of the Irish Academy of Engineering says many aspects of life, including health, will change dramatically.
"We would anticipate with broadband that many people with illness will be monitored in their own homes, " he said.
"That will avoid the need for people spending long times in hospital, or even making regular visits to hospital."
